Hi!
My name is Fred Arellano and welcome! There comes a moment of clarity and purpose in everyone’s life and for me that was the Monterey Pop Festival in June of 1967. There had never been such a collection of artists assembled in one place before or since. Woodstock was huge, Monterey Pop was intimate and up close. Some of my other photos feature the Monterey Jazz Festival and the Big Sur Folk Festival as well as some landscapes and nature shots of my home in beautiful Santa Cruz Ca. Hopefully one of more of the photos will find their way to a wall near you. Incidentally, On November 1, 2011 famed music writer and producer, Harvey Kubernik published a book entitled, “A Perfect Haze: a pictorial history of the Monterey Pop Festival”. This book offers a behind-the-scenes look at the making of one the most important festivals in history. John Philips and Lou Adler put the entire event together in 6 weeks, without cell phones, the Internet, fax machines, or computers. My photographs are featured in this book, available at Amazon.com Thank you for looking…..enjoy!
